Stagecoach Marina
Steamboat Springs Boat Rentals is located in Stagecoach Stage Park in the scenic mountains of Colorado. The marina offers pontoon boat rentals, fishing boat rentals, stand up paddleboard rentals and more. The convenient store, located near the public restrooms, offers snacks, drinks, fishing supplies and often forgotten items. The marina is open from Memorial Day weekend until the first week of September – weather dependent.
Stagecoach is named for the Stagecoach that used to run between Toponas and Steamboat Springs. The line went out of service around 1907. Today Stagecoach offers recreational opportunities year round. In the summer, boating and fishing are favorite activities as are hiking, biking, swimming and birding.
While visitors can rent boats, they can also bring in their own boats. There is a required Aquatic Nuisance Species Inspection on all outside boats coming in.
Fishermen have long touted Stagecoach Reservoir as the home of many record-setting pike for the state of Colorado. It is also known for being one of the greatest trout fisheries in the Rocky Mountains, period. It is not uncommon to hear people talk about catching 20 trout in a single guided fishing trip. While the occasional brown trout is caught during our guided fishing trips, our main catch is the coveted rainbow trout, with the average catch coming in at 14 inches long with a weight of one-and-a-half pounds. Located less than 20 minutes from downtown Steamboat Springs, Stagecoach Reservoir is fed by the pristine Yampa River and surrounded by the picturesque Yampa Valley mountains just brimming with wildlife like elk and bald eagles.
Within the reservoir, fishermen are encouraged to practice selective harvest. This means keeping average size fish and returning larger fish and smaller fish to the waters to sustain the fishing population.
